Science Olympiad Science Olympiad

For the first time in Hillside High School's history, the high school science club lead, by Mrs. Sayedahmed, competed in NJIT Science Olympiad and did an amazing job. Our students, Joshua Kruck and Divine Onyeagonch, received third place award medals in the Dynamic Planet event and Max Edouard and Edward Kiboma received sixth place award medals in the Wright Stuff.  Congratulations! We are so proud of our students and their continued passion for science.

A Message from the Principal Principal's Message

Being a parent to a teenager is truly difficult work. The time and effort you spend tracking, congratulating, and nagging your children to always keep trying and improving is time well spent, but it is also hard and sometimes thankless work. However, for both adults and students, with the beginning of each New Year comes the opportunity for improvement. This commitment is commonly called a New Year’s resolution. One of the many challenges a parent faces is teaching children how to set and obtain goals like New Year’s resolutions. It is well researched that those children who plan out and obtain their goals have healthier self-esteem and tend to be more resilient when faced with life’s challenges.

December 6, 2019, Hillside High School attended the Union County/UC Step program.  UC STEP (Union County Student Training & Enrichment Program) was created to provide high school students the opportunity to develop a countywide community service around a topic they feel is important, while teaching them leadership, personal growth skills, and responsibility within their communities.  The students participated in break out sessions and brainstormed for this year civic engagement topic, the Census.   Hillside High's Gabriel Nunes was presented with the Freeholder Hudak leadership award by Assemblywoman Linda Carter.
