PRE K PRE-REGISTRATION for 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR

March 13th -17th 2017

10:00 AM- 1:30 PM

On Monday, March 13th pre- registration will also occur from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m

"Ask the Superintendent"

We are pleased to announce monthly "Ask the Superintendent" sessions for the 2016-2017 school year.   These sessions will be on Saturdays from 10AM-12PM. Here are our upcoming dates:

Dec 17th at Calvin Coolidge

Jan 14 at HHS

Feb 11 at WOK

Mar 11 at GW

Apr 15, May 13 & Jun 10 at HHS

 

SCHOLARSHIP EXPO

All seniors are invited Saturday February 25th from 11-1PM to the Springfield Branch Library located on 50 Hayes St. in Newark for a Scholarship Expo. This is a great opportunity to pick up numerous and various scholarship applications and to apply for online scholarships.

The Book Bandy Project at George Washington Elementary School

Katie Zimmermann from Senior Girl Scout Troop 40851 with Dr. Festante and George Washington students participating in the Book Bandy.

 

The Book Bandy project was designed to encourage students to read and foster a love of books. George Washington School received a donation of over 700 books from the Book Bandy Project. Students will meet monthly to share their reading experience.

10/6 “Respect Yourself, Dress to Impress”

As part of our George Washington’s character education program, students dressed up for success. The goal was to instill respect within themselves and to promote career awareness.

10/6 “Together Everyone Achieves More”

Athletes from Kean University, Rutgers University and Hillside High School visited our students to talk about TEAM building and to discuss good citizenship/sportsmanship which served to highlight George Washington’s motto, “TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More.”

 

 

 

 

10/17 “Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month”

          As a culminating activity, the Hillside High School Dance Ensemble directed by Ms. Love presented Hispanic Cultural dances to our students.

 

10/14 “George Washington’s 4th Annual Hillside Food Bank Drive”

          George Washington students kicked off our 4th Annual Hillside Food Bank Drive. Members from the Hillside Food Bank visited our school to promote awareness for community service.

10/5 “We Are Building Community Relations”

George Washington students were visited by local police enforcement to foster positive relations between law enforcement and the community.
