Teacher of the Year

 

Mr. Taveras, who currently teachers Spanish to kindergarten and first grade students was recently named A.P. Morris Early Childhood Center’s Teacher of the Year! It is Mr. Taveras’s second year of teaching Spanish at AP Morris ECC.  Mr. Taveras began his career in Paterson as a substitute teacher and later as a paraprofessional. He graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in Communication. While completing his communication degree at Rutgers, he also completed a Spanish major with a concentration in Hispanic literary and cultural studies. This led to his certification to teach both Spanish and ESL for grades K-12. 

Mr. Taveras is honored to be teacher of the year at A.P. Morris. He would like to thank all the parents and staff members at the school for being so supportive and for all the incredible feedback. He would also like to thank his students for their respect, patience, and interest in learning Spanish. Mr. Taveras’s biggest motivation is seeing his students evolve each and every day

 

Mr. Spychalski

Educational Support Professional of the Year

Mr. Spychalski has been working in Hillside Public Schools for the past 5 years as a paraprofessional in the prekindergarten program. He graduated from Centenary University. Mr. Spychalski wanted to become a teacher because he enjoys working with kids and watching them grow not only socially, but also academically. In addition to this award, Mr. Spychalski is also a member of Kappa Delta Epsilon Education Honor Society and Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society.

Mr. Spychalski loves working at A.P. Morris with the staff and students because of the great environment. He loves low everyone works together and helps each other every day to do their best!
