10 Miles of Perseverance!!!
Congratulations to Mr. Martz for completing his first Sprint Triathlon, “Tri the Wildwoods,” where he biked 10 miles in 46 minutes and 2 seconds, swam a 1/4 of a mile in 10m28s, and completed a 5K run in 29m32s seconds, earning him a total time of 1 hour, 34 minutes, and 55 seconds! We are proud of him for modeling healthy habits, but more importantly, demonstrating the importance of goal setting, and persevering! When contacted for comment Mr. Martz said, “I learned a lot in this race. A few things really held me back that I plan on fixing next year that will put me in a better place. The first is that I waited until the last group to go in the swim. This was a mistake because there were way too many people and I couldn't get into a swimming rhythm…Next year I will go sooner and with a smaller group. Also, on the bike I realized about 200 yards into it that I needed air in my tires. With no real solution available, I just pushed ahead and did the best I could. Of the 3, the bike was clearly my worst event. Aside from a few rookie mistakes, I think I did okay for a first timer. I will return next year and I plan on smashing my time.”
