Dear George Washington Families,
September was a great month in so many ways and so much has already been accomplished. I keep remarking how quickly the students settled in to learning and the routines. We will continue with our routines in school and it is important for you to continue to stress routines at home including a quiet place for homework, reading for enjoyment at least 15 minutes a night, getting ready for school the night before so the morning is not rushed, and finally getting a good night’s sleep. Working with your child to develop those routines so they are performed independently fosters self-sufficiency and is effective in providing them control over appropriate aspects of their lives. This is also developmentally appropriate for elementary aged children.
Our Back-to-School Night was well attended and I thank you for your participation. We are doing great things at George Washington School. Our school is an exciting place to be, due to the dedicated staff whose common goal is to do what is best for students. The staff at George Washington is committed to academic excellence for children and high expectations for all students. The children work hard every day to master the required academic skills, as well as, all of the other ones necessary to be successful in life. Stop and talk to the children. They are eager to tell you what they are learning in class. The teachers plan and deliver instruction in a differentiated manner to ensure the successes of each student. We want our children to be good readers, writers, scientists, problem-solvers, and good citizens.
I look forward to working with you to ensure a successful school year for your child.
