This morning, December 11th, 2025, the Hillside High School Auditorium was fully packed with students, parents, and staff for the first marking period Honor Roll Ceremony and Breakfast at Hillside High School!

Congratulations to all of the Hillside High School scholars (over 290 students) who earned Superintendent's Honor Roll Scholar Designation, High Honor Roll, and Honor Roll! On Wednesday night (12/10/2025), the Hillside High School Guidance Department @hillsidehs_schoolcounseling, hosted a HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) College Fair and Alumni Mixer! Students, parents, and families attended the spectacular event which took place in the Hillside High School Media Center. Thank you to the HBCU representatives and panelists who were present at the college fair to speak to our students, thank you to Guidance Director Mr. Boateng, the Guidance Department, Acting Superintendent Dr. Pérez, Ms. Mullins, District Student Assistance Coordinator, School counselor Mr. McKoy and all of the Hillside High School staff , students, and families!

Performing Arts students from Hillside High School (@hhs.performingarts) participated in Paper Mill Playhouse’s (@papermillhouse) ArtsFest as a part of Phase 2 of the Adopt-a-School Program! Students took acting, vocal, and dance workshops with professional teaching artists to learn material from West Side Story. They then had the opportunity to present what they learned on the Paper Mill MainStage! Our students will wrap up this year of the program by returning later this school year to see a show!

Congratulations to Hillside High School student, Shwessi Celorge, whose poem "Embers in the Echo" was selected to be published in the book "American High School Poets - Holiday Special 2025"! This book was produced by the Live Poetry Society of New Jersey, which hosts the National High School Poetry Contest each year. Shwessi is one of a few topical winners for the contest, shout out to her ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher, Ms. Melissa Ambrose! You can read Shwessi's poem below:

"Embers in the Echo

Beneath the bruised breath of broken skies,
My heart hums hymns where hidden havoc lies.
A dolorous dusk drapes dreams in dusky dust,
Each memory murmurs, “must, must, must.”

The ache, a raven roosted in my chest,
Preens feathers of the grief I can’t divest.
Time, a thief with velvet veils and venom,
Steals my steps, yet leaves the phantom’s emblem.

Hope hides in hollows where the heart hesitates,
And courage crawls through cryptic corridors of fates.
My pain is poetry painted in pallid pain,
A tempest tracing tears along my vein.

A tongue-tied tide turns truth into trembling trill,
While sorrow sings in silver streams so still.
The past persists, a prisoner in my plea,
Its chains chant chants no choice can set free.

I march, my mind a maze of muted moans,
Where echoes etch eternity in stones.
Yet in this ache, a fragile flame I find
A lyrical lifeline to a lost mankind."

Completing the FAFSA is a graduation requirement for all seniors! ESL and Bilingual Families Advisory Night

This morning, Wednesday, November 19th, 2025, the Department of ESL & World Languages presented information about the New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy to interested Hillside High School Seniors who are multilingual! Students learned the benefits of their multilingualism and of receiving the Seal of Biliteracy. We currently have over 80 Seniors signed up.
