The @scholastic R.E.A.L. Mentor Reading event took place today (1/10/2025)! Hillside Public Schools' staff members, Hillside High School students, Hillside Policemen, Firefighters, Hillside Board of Education members, and more, served as mentors! Our mentors traveled to A.P. Morris Early Childhood Center, and all the Hillside Elementary Schools to read to our young students, helping to instill a love of reading in our students! Not only were our young students read to, but they also got to bring home a new book to add to their home libraries! Shout out to all our mentors including Hillside Board of Education President Ms. Best, our Hillside High School student readers, Hillside Public Schools administrators, and staff. On December 16th and 17th, 2024, Dr. Sam Rhodes facilitated mathematics lessons in all of the Hillside Public Schools. The lessons focused on problem-solving using CueThink. Students engaged in mathematics thinking using manipulatives, whiteboards, pictorial representations, and most importantly, their brains!

Our Hillside Comets Boys Varsity Basketball Team won the 62nd Annual Joe Silver Holiday Tournament on Monday, December 30th, 2024! Our Comets defeated Piscataway High School 60-58! This is the first time in a decade that the Comets have won first place in the tournament, congratulations students, coaches, and athletic department!
