Congratulations to Melissa Ullrich from Hillside High School on being selected by the NJ Holocaust Commission as one of thirty New Jersey educators to attend a Holocaust Education trip to Europe! This education trip to Europe included Maud Dahme, one of the Hidden Children from the Netherlands. On Thursday, 8/8/2024, @keanuniversity 's Harwood Arena hosted the 2024 Big Central Conference Media Day! Football teams within the Big Central Conference filled the arena while being interviewed by many local media outlets. Each team was represented by its coach and at least 3 football players. 3 of our Hillside High School scholars and teacher Ms. Tenreiro attend @njit 's Forensic Science Initiative Summer JumpStart Program (FSI)! Students explored the properties of glass at GlassRoots Studio in Newark, testified as expert forensic witnesses in Mock Court, and more! Ms. Tenreiro and two colleagues, one from Newark and one from Ridgewood, designed two Microscopy lessons which they taught to their colleagues at the New Jersey Forensic Science Education Conference. Teachers of grades 3-5 spent their first 3 of 6 days in the National Training Network's Summer Mathematics Institute! Presenter, Valerie Thomas, engaged teachers in fun standards-based problem solving experiences over the course of the three days! On the third day, the presenter turned the classroom over to the teachers and allowed them to showcase their own strategies for problem solving!
