The first "Brothers Bonding with Books And Basketball" session was a huge success! On March 29th, 2025, the initial session of "Brothers Bonding with Books and Basketball" occurred at Hillside High School. Brothers Bonding with Books & Basketball is a fun new initiative established by the Office of the Superintendent, aimed at connecting students with adult mentors from the community! Students in attendance had a blast playing various basketball games and participating in activities that also connected with reading and literacy! Thank you, Superintendent Glover, Supervisor Ms. Simon, Principal Woolard, Director Mr. McNeil, Ms. Harris, Hillside Public Schools' staff, students, and the Hillside Board of Education! There are two more sessions of "Brothers Bonding with Books and Basketball", on April 5th, 2025, and April 12th, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hillside High School ! On Friday, March 21st, 2025, W.O.K Middle School students attended the 17th Kean University (@keanuniversity) Human Rights Conference! After the conference, they went into the Liberty Hall Academic Center (LHAC) galleries and viewed an exhibit of art from South Africa! Students also went into the Kean archives where they engaged in historical artifacts relating to several events in American History and Hillside in particular! Last night, the ESL and World Language Departments in collaboration with William Colon, the president of the Latino Institute, Inc hosted two parent advisory meetings. On Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, Ms. Crisanaz's science classes at Hurden-Looker Elementary School completed virtual labs with Students2Science (@students_2_science)! The students completed a lab called "Candy Color Wheel" where they used M&M's to identify the primary, secondary, and tertiary colors that make up a package of candy, using chromatography paper to separate colors!
